President's Message - October 2022

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

Greetings Brothers and Happy Charter Day,

On October 1, 2022 we celebrated the 99th anniversary of the chartering of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc Mu Lambda Chapter in Washington DC. Almost 100 years old the 111th House of Alpha has a storied history contributing to the betterment of our host city, the United States at large and for beloved fraternity. In “The History of Alpha Phi Alpha A Development in College Life” authored by Brother Charles Wesley, (charter member of Mu Lambda, past Mu Lambda chapter president and the 14th General President of Alpha Phi Alpha), there is a chapter titled “The Crowning Years”. It is during this era in our Fraternity’s history that Mu Lambda was charted. How fitting that our chapter would be chartered during this pivotal time in Alpha’s history. The contributions delivered through the individual works of the Brothers that called Mu Lambda home and the collective work of the Brothers as a chapter is commendable. Leaders in all forms of endeavor. Setting the example. Blazing the trail. Ruffling feathers, challenging each other and others. And from what I am seeing looking ahead we will continue to do so for another 100 Years.

So I raise a metaphorical toast to the Brothers of Mu Lambda past and present. A toast to honor our 22 charter members, which includes Jewel Nathaniel Allyson Murray and Jewel Robert Harold Ogle. A toast to you all.
